What's different about pouring concrete in Trevor
Trevor sits at the southern edge of Kenosha County, right along the Illinois border near the Wilmot area and Wilmot Mountain ski area. The community draws residents from both sides of the state line, and we regularly serve customers from Trevor, Wilmot, and nearby northern Illinois communities like Antioch, Spring Grove, and Richmond.
The Trevor-Wilmot area has a mix of older established homes and newer rural residential properties. The terrain is gently rolling compared to the flatter lakeshore communities to the east, which means grading and drainage planning matter more here. We spec 4,500 PSI air-entrained concrete (6% entrained air) over a minimum 4" compacted Class II gravel base as standard. Wisconsin's 48" frost depth applies here, and the ~100 annual freeze-thaw cycles combined with ~40" of snowfall make proper air entrainment and base preparation non-negotiable. For Illinois customers just across the border, we note that IL frost depth requirements are similar (42"), so our Wisconsin-spec pours exceed what's needed on either side.
Common project types in Trevor
- Driveways for both established homes and new rural residential builds in the Wilmot area
- Patios and outdoor living areas on larger lots with space for entertaining
- Pole barn and shop aprons on semi-rural properties
- Sidewalks and walkways for homes and small commercial properties along Highway 83
- Foundation work for new construction and additions
Cold-weather pours in Trevor
We pour year-round when the project schedule demands it, using calcium-free accelerating admixtures, insulated blankets, and propane heaters in tents. Cold pours add 8-15% to total cost and are slower, but for a builder under deadline they're routinely the right call. October-March pours we monitor with embedded thermocouples to keep the concrete above 40 degrees F for the first 72 hours per ACI 306.
